I am bad at this...

I appear to have abandoned this little lonely blog for almost a month now... I am back! Gonna try try try and keep up with it better, although I have said that before. Back in Vienna now after a trip to Germany and England and its very much Spring here. I'm going to give updates on all the little things I've been up to over the last month over this next week...

Plans

Well I think I've already failed at writing every day this week... must try harder. Seem so busy at the moment and wish there were more hours in each day for me to get everything done. Also, time seems to be going too fast which is never nice.

Vienna is covered in huge posters advertising different exhibitions and I have been meaning to go to a few for so long - this week I shall succeed! I missed the Frieda Kahlo exhibition :( so definitely have to go to at least a couple to make up for it; it seems silly not to while I'm here.

Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt - Belvedere

'Der Blaue Reiter' Exhibition - Albertina

Kandinsky

So, these are the 2 exhibitions I am planning on visiting this week. I will endeavor to succeed and then I shall write again with how I found them and some better photographs.

Some Easter things have started to appear around Vienna this week too! There is a massive Easter Market at Schönbrunn (a big palace with lots of gardens and grounds) and I've been told it's worth a visit so hopefully will manage to visit that too this week.

Well I should go.. too many things to do.. and I'm prioritising sleep.

Catching up...

Sorry I have been so rubbish at this again.. had a lot of work and then lots of going out and then lots of sleeping to do. BUT, I have planned to post every day this week so hopefully I will keep it up...

Vienna is having a mini spring heat wave.. its been so hot this last week.. 31 last Thursday. So all my time has been spent picnicking and wandering. I live right on the biggest park in Vienna, it's so perfect for summer.

I cannot wait for the summer after such a long long winter here.

Muesli bar!

I had a lovely, lovely start to my day yesterday by heading to this little muesli bar I'd found. It was so cute! (Except for the dodgy name... 'corn 'n' pops') For 7.50 you got a muesli feast... a coffee, orange juice, a MASSIVE muesli bowl of your choice and a bagel with cream cheese and jam. It filled me up til dinner time and I intend to take everyone I know there.

I spent the rest of my day (after a seminar) wandering around the city. It is really Spring here now, it's been over 20 degrees every day this last week.. amazing! Nobody likes a grey city and Vienna is looking even lovelier in the sunshine.

Hope Spring has arrived for all of you too.

Party Mice

I've been drawing these little mice in a 'party parade' and finally put one (all alone) on a little tea bag saucer. It's a gift for a friend - hope she likes it!

Bratislava.

I still appear to be terrible at maintaining a blog.. will endeavor to improve this week!

Managed to sneak in a little trip to Bratislava this weekend. It's only 1 hour on the train - perfect for a day trip. I've gotta say, Bratislava is not the most overwhelming capital city I've ever been to.. it definitely made me appreciate Vienna more! That said, the old town was charming with some lovely little streets and squares and we also took a walk up to the shiny white castle overlooking the city.

Finally managed to upload photos. Apologies for their rubbishness, the weather was quite uninspiring. But here's a little look at Bratislava...

Chocolate pots

Other than Bratislava and uni I've started a healthy eating plan and I'm now going swimming in the mornings... so hopefully I'll soon be ready for the summer.

I've been doodling all week so will share some of my new pictures later this week :) and I've also discovered lots of new places in Vienna I want to share with you soon!

Good night!

Sleepy Sunday.

Things warmed up a bit today so I ventured out for a coffee with 2 friends. We ended up in the (always busy) Leopold Gallery Cafe, in Museums Quartier. MQ is a 'culture space' full of galleries, cafes, bars, shops and theatres..

Nice Vienna storm cloud in the background there.

While one friend had a massive brunch (soup, toast, pancakes, salmon)... the other had the most fancy hot choccolate I've ever seen....

This evening I've been trying to draw something nice to put on 2 mugs I'm making. My brother requested 'a grumpy bear who's been woken from hibernation early and has been forced from his bear hole'. I don't think I can draw that.. firstly, I'm not entirely certain what a 'bear hole' is, and, secondly,I seem to only be able to draw woodland creatures   :(

GOOD night!

Oh Vienna.

Since I'm lucky enough to be living in Vienna this year, I'm going to start sharing some of my favourite places around the city with you. It had reached a crazy 22 degrees last week, but now is back to a miserable 6.. and everything is very, very grey. Everyone knows nothing looks worse than a grey cityscape.. so I shall spare you the photos I took last night.

I am starting to feel that I've lived here long enough now to show you some of Vienna's best.. and not just the touristy spots (some of which are, of course, definitely worth visiting). I'm planning on featuring every place/thing I love in Vienna... I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

1. Naschmarkt

Fruit and veg - Vienna's best market?

Saturday morning flea market - lots of fur.

Falafal wrap + my friend Emily
Naschmarkt is one of Vienna's biggest daily markets, with an added extra flea market every Saturday. The flea market is full of cheap (stolen) fur coats and a bit of everything - root around a bit for the hidden gems (and get here early for the stolen goods). For me the best thing Naschmarkt has to offer is the food! It's FULL of cafes and bars and restaurants, with lots of Greek/Turkish food. I'm a vegetarian so there's loads for me here! I could (and have) easily spend a day eating my way around this market.

PS. I am in a bloggy race to reach 50 followers.. yes, I do realise that I only have 1 :( Please help me!
